The Applied Health Informatics (AHI) Certificate is an eight-month, online, undergraduate certificate designed to provide current or aspiring healthcare professionals with an interdisciplinary understanding of the tools and strategies used to influence healthcare technology, data, and information. Graduates will leverage the power of informatics to transform care delivery – improving patient outcomes, quality, patient care efficiency, and community commitment.

The Applied Health Informatics Certificate can be completed as a stand-alone certificate for entry-level positions in health informatics, or as a complement to an existing or in-progress degree to gain a better, more enhanced understanding of health informatics. The certificate is an ideal match for both administrative and clinical practices, including undergraduate and graduate degrees in healthcare administration, nursing, community health, and more.

Certificate Curriculum

The Applied Health Informatics Certificate delivers four courses over two semesters totaling eight months in length. Students complete six credits in both the first and second semester, totaling 12 credits at the time of completion. All coursework is completed in four, eight-week long sequential terms designed to accelerate learning. The AHI certificate is administered 100% online, with students completing all required coursework and materials through the Moodle platform. Students are not required to complete any internship, clinical, or practicum hours to graduate.

The University of Providence’s Applied Health Informatics Certificate accepts applications for fall and spring enrollment. Application deadlines are in August of each year for fall enrollment and December for spring enrollment.
