The Sports Management degree program at the University of Providence prepares students for careers in a diverse field. UP has a strong emphasis on ethics in both the core curriculum and in sports management. Ethical issues are an ongoing problem in sports, and UP graduates will be in a position to make well thought out and ethical decisions for the organizations they work for.
Sports management classes often require getting out in the community and assisting with or observing events. Getting involved in helping the community host events and seeing how it benefits a community’s economy, as well as, make the community more vibrant is a great way for students to feel a sense of achievement and reward. In partnership with the UP Mission, sports management graduates will be prepared to serve their communities with compassion and dedication.
Sports management is a very diverse field and the UP program allows a student to select a focus area within sports management that fits their skill set. For example, if analytics is a strong area for you, you can take up to 12 credits of computer science. If you are a people person and want to be a manager you can take up to 12 credits of business and have it count towards your degree, etc. Focus areas include: Accounting, Biology, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Exercise Science and HPE.

One day you could be dealing with an elite athlete, and the next you could be helping coordinate a community outreach program for an underserved community. A Sports Management Degree lays the ground work for launching a career where you can make a difference in your community both economically and socially.
