I am thrilled to be a part of the innovative School of Health Professions (SHP) at the University of Providence (UP). Working with the dynamic team of SHP professionals allows me to combine my passions of Healthcare, Education, and Leadership.
I bring over 22 years of experience in higher education, all focused upon growing future generations of healthcare providers. Prior to becoming an educator, I practiced Radiography in both the acute care and outpatient settings. I served in the North Carolina Community College System as Radiography Program Director, and later Dean of Health, Wellness and Public Safety at two separate multi-campus community colleges located in the Piedmont region of the state.
My husband and I enjoy camping, hiking, fly-fishing, snowshoeing, and backpacking in the beautiful wild outdoors of Montana. We built a vacation home in the Ruby Valley in southwestern Montana 14 years ago, and finally relocated to Montana permanently in 2013 when I accepted the position of Health Science Division Director at Great Falls College Montana State University. In that role, I was able to forge relationships across MT with numerous educators and healthcare provider organizations. These relationships and experiences have equipped me with a solid foundation for building new partnerships here at UP, particularly in the SHP.
My previous professional experiences have uniquely prepared me to join the team at UP as we partner with the Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) System to meet their workforce demands. SHP strives to build educational partnerships in the seven states of the PSJH System: Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska, California, Texas, and New Mexico. The University offers graduate, bachelors, and associates degrees, and certificates in high-demand healthcare professions and leadership disciplines identified as critically needed by the PSJH System. UP offers tuition discounts to the PSJH Caregivers and their families; additionally, PSJH offers tuition reimbursement as an employee benefit for their Caregivers.
I am excited to see the growth potential for the University as our partnership with PSJH expands. To quote our President, Dr. Tony Aretz: “Big and Bold!”
