Faculty, Michelle Hill and Deanna Koepke led a trip to Greece in May to rave reviews from the participants.
Ten people with ages ranging from 19-79 departed Great Falls on May 5. After a few small bumps in Minneapolis and Amsterdam, we arrived in Athens on time and smiling. Our CIS Abroad program coordinator was a master at scheduling and transportation, ensuring we had many of the sights almost to ourselves. We had several days there and saw the Acropolis and Parthenon, the Agora, Delphi, Arachova (a mountain town by a ski area), and several museums. We took a ferry to Mykonos and then went on to spend several days on Santorini, exploring all the beauty and culture this island had to offer through a guided coach tour and a boat tour that included a stop for a hike up an active volcano and a swim in the Aegean Sea. We had ample time for shopping and eating the fabulous Greek food, and often had unscheduled time where we were free to explore on our own and soak up as much of the ambiance and history of this country as we could. We even delighted many of our hosts over our ten-day stay with some Greek words and phrases we had learned before departure.
This trip was so much fun that the group asked Michelle and I about our next one. We have decided on Egypt late December 2020/early January 2021. Several people from the Greece trip have already verbally committed to see Egypt with us. More information will be coming as we get the plan in place, but we would love to have more alumni join us.
