About Great Falls

Why Great Falls

Watch your paycheck go further

  • Compare our cost of living to other cities- we dare you. Great Falls is the ideal place for young professionals and families to call home (or those who are just looking to make their dollar stretch a little further).

Set Up Your Basecamp

  • Almost smack dab in the middle of the state and halfway between Glacier and Yellowstone national parks, Great Falls puts you in perfect proximity to all of Montana’s greatness.
  • Majestic mountains loom in nearly every direction, offering ample opportunities for hiking and biking as well as downhill and cross-country skiing during the winter.
  • A roaring river runs through it all, as the Missouri River slices through the heart of the city, providing easy access to watersports and some of the best trout fishing in the world, in addition to producing a series of waterfalls that gives Great Falls its name.
  • The River’s Edge Trail is More than 40 miles of paved riverfront trail, along with nearly 20 additional miles of dirt trails for mountain biking, make it a must for riders.

Great Falls is known as the Museum Capital of Montana

  • Surround yourself with people who aren’t afraid to let their inner artist, creativity, and quirkiness shine. Art is the lifeblood of Great Falls, and residents are either appreciating or creating art at almost every turn.
  • Great Falls is proud to be home to 17 art galleries (mostly on Central Avenue), where you can browse and admire the works of local and national artists.
  • Great Falls is Montana’s Museum Capital with 10 museums that will pique your interests, including The History Museum, Children’s Museum of Montana, Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art, and more.

The Local Food Scene

  • If you’re lucky enough to find yourself at the doorway of the Celtic Cowboy, then you are fortunate indeed. While you’re in Great Falls, make a stop (or two!) at this award-winning Irish pub. The pub is named for Robert Vaughn (nicknamed the “Celtic Cowboy” after emigrating from Wales and becoming a community leader). The pub serves authentic Irish fare (hello, Scotch eggs, bread pudding, bangers and corned beef hash) all day, every day. Wash it all down with a pint, dram or pour of your choice. And for Sunday brunch, partake in the weekly Celtic Music extravaganza, which takes brunching to a new level of entertainment. The Celtic’s hummus is made from local ingredients and the pub’s atmosphere has been as the best sports experience in North America.
  • The people in Great Falls will deliver time and again on genuine hospitality. You’ll be welcomed as a local when you stop into KellerGesit Pub Theatre (quite possibly the world’s smallest bar) for a quality handcrafted cocktail, The Blue Rose to shop for classic clothing pieces, enjoy live music at The Do, stroll through Winston Gallery, try a few routes at the Hi-Line Climbing Center, take a ride on the Historic Great Falls Trolley, cheer on the Great Falls Voyagers, or renew your spirit with a craft Jeremiah Johnson Brewing Company brew.
