One of the most popular majors for undergraduate students is a degree in business administration. Everywhere in the world no matter what you are doing, whether you are in criminal justice, sports, or the healthcare industry, there will be a need for businessmen and women in the administrative and financial positions. With a business administration degree, you have many opportunities that will fall on your lap because of your versatility. This field offers a wide range of opportunities for business students to pursue careers in many different areas, including finance, marketing, accounting, and management.

The versatility that a business degree brings you is very helpful because you can basically work anywhere, and everything is a business in the real world. For me, the main factor in choosing this major was wanting to be very versatile and the ability to work in many different industries. I believe this program will help me in many ways as these different skills are taught throughout the coursework; interpersonal skills, technological skills, problem solving, ethical decision making and personal character development. UP offers three different concentrations within the business administration program. I believe they all are very beneficial and will give you specific classes that will give you more in-depth knowledge about your concentration. The three different concentrations are general business, finance, and management.
The general business concentration is designed to deepen your understanding of the foundation of business functions. This concentration will have students taking courses in commercial law, budgeting, entrepreneurship, and project management. With a degree like this, it will help round out students’ skill sets and help prepare them for a wide variety of careers in business.
The finance concentration is more focused than the general pathway. The finance curriculum consists of courses that emphasize financial markets and institutions, ethics and enterprise, investments and portfolio management and public and non-profit finance. These type of courses help direct students toward certain issues and tactics in the finance world and how to read the financial and economic world.
The third and final concentration is management. This concentration is meant for students interested in management roles and providing a more in depth look at business management from different views. Courses that are offered for a management concertation are human resource management, supply chain management, global enterprise, and spreadsheets.
In the end, pursuing a degree in business administration can lead to many career opportunities, help develop skills, provide personal/professional financial techniques and tips, and provide networking opportunities that can lead to job opportunities and advancing your career. This particular degree can provide individuals with a strong foundation and valuable skills that can help them succeed in a variety of industries and career paths.
