Students enrolling in the Masters of Healthcare Administration program can now choose between MHA concentrations in leadership, health justice, or community health.
The addition of community health and health justice concentrations will be available to all incoming students starting fall 2023, joining the existing concentration option of leadership. With these new concentrations, students will have more flexibility and freedom to select which discipline they want to focus on, allowing them to personalize their MHA experience.
Starting fall 2023, all students who enroll in the MHA program will select a concentration from the available options during their first and second semesters. During this first semester, students will choose from three course offerings, each representing a different concentration:
- MHA 510: Leadership Theory (Leadership Concentration)
- MHA 504: Medical-Legal Partnerships (Health Justice)
- MHA 507: Essentials of Community Health (Community Health)
Students will then follow the same process for their second semester:
- MHA 512: Applied Leadership (Leadership Concentration)
- MHA 508: Health Inequities & Social Epidemiology (Health Justice & Community Health)
Students who select the Community Health concentration can register for an additional elective course (MHA 513: Intro to Upstream Improvements in Community Health) during their final semester or after completing 40 credits. However, the course isn’t required.

Adding these concentrations to the MHA program will not impact currently available post-bachelor certificate options in health justice and community health investment, which will continue to be offered as stand-alone certificate option for those interested. If desired, students may subsequently complete the appropriate internship/capstone courses to complete the certificate.
The healthcare administration program prepares graduates to serve as leaders in healthcare. As a leader, graduates will apply new systems, leadership, and communication theories and strategies to help improve healthcare operations and create healthy person-centered environments.
Through informatics and information technology, graduates of our program will harness the power of data to improve decision-making, accountability, and quality outcomes in healthcare.
The MHA program is a cohort-style program designed for working professionals with a completion time of approximately 24 months. Students complete six eight-week terms, graduating with a total of 40 credit hours. Enrollments into our MHA program occur each fall and spring semester.
