UPward Exploration: Program Information Sessions are virtual information sessions hosted by the University of Providence. These immersive, interactive sessions provide prospective students with the opportunity to explore education programs offered by UP’s School of Health Professions (SHP). Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the unique history, mission, and values of UP, learn more about the application and admission process, and connect with program directors in specialized breakout sessions.
Registration for UPward Exploration Sessions is fast, easy, and free. Sessions are open to all of those interested in starting, advancing, or enhancing their healthcare career. Programs explored during the sessions range from entry-level certificates in medical assisting and pharmacy tech to graduate programs in healthcare administration, nursing, and clinical mental health counseling.

What to Expect During a Session
Attendees of UPward Exploration sessions can expect to learn more about the University of Providence, the admissions process, and their programs of interest. During the one-hour virtual session, potential students will spend the majority of their time in miniature breakout sessions, which are focused on providing up-to-date information and outcomes specific to their program of choice. Upon completion of the session, attendees will possess a general understanding of UP’s core history, mission, and values, the admission and application process, and general program information specific to their program of choice.
Registration & Reservation
Registration for UPward Exploration Sessions can be found through session-specific registration links. Generally, sessions are announced approximately 30-45 days ahead of the session date. Multiple sessions are scheduled in daily intervals across a variety of time slots. Prospective students interested in registering will be asked to fill out a basic registration form which includes:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Date of Birth
- Phone Number
- Academic Program of Interest (Used to determine breakout room)
- Entry Term
Following submission of the registration form, attendees will receive confirmation of their reservation and access to the UPward Exploration Session link for the corresponding day and time.

Session Preparation and Questions
While attendees are not required to prepare for sessions, it is suggested they enter sessions with a basic understanding of their program of interest along with a list of potential questions regarding the program. Having questions can help prospective students better grasp their program of interest while ensuring they fully understand program offerings. Some common questions include:
- How long is the average completion time for the program?
- Are in-person courses required?
- What are some job examples post-graduation?
- Is the program accredited and if so by who?
- How long are classes and how much time is expected each week?
Session Structure & Organization
Sessions are structured around providing prospective students with relevant information specific to UP, its admissions, and the unique program offerings. Prospective students will spend the majority of their time in breakout rooms interacting with a program leadership about their program of interest. Breakout sessions are designed to not only introduce students to the program and what it has to offer but provide attendees with the opportunity to connect with and meet program leadership.
General UPward Exploration Session Schedule:
- Welcome, Reflection & Introductions (15 mins)
- During this portion, potential students are welcomed to the session with a reflection before being introduced to some members of SHP and UP leadership.
- Application Process (5 mins)
- During this section, the admissions office provides a rundown of how to apply to the University of Providence and the steps to take once an application is completed
- Breakout Rooms (35 mins)
- During breakouts, attendees learn more about their program of interest, including key information and outcomes. Additionally, attendees will connect with program leadership, learning about their journey and involvement in the program and healthcare overall.
- Closing/General Questions (5 mins)
- Attendees who have additional questions can ask them during this final section

UPward Exploration Sessions pull together leaders from across the University of Providence, including members of senior leadership at both the university and SHP level. Sessions also incorporate different departments and divisions, providing a wholistic understanding of both the nursing and health programs divisions in SHP and the admissions side.
