Earlier this month I spent three days in Irvine, California, with Mission Integration leaders from across the Providence St. Joseph system. We spent two days discussing, interpreting, reflecting, and praying our way into the new mission statement.
My take away from these days was a sense of deep gratitude that I had the privilege to be part of such an important chapter in the story of Providence St. Joseph. More than once it was said that the new mission statement and core values will survive long after we have left the stage.
If you are hoping to read the new mission statement here, I apologize in anticipation of disappointing. We were asked not to print the statement as it still needs some final editing. Formal promulgation is scheduled for the end of February. In the meantime, if we meet on campus, please ask me to tell you about our meeting and the new mission statement.
The roll-out next month of the new Providence St. Joseph mission statement reminds us that here at the university, we are preparing to take the first steps in our mission formation journey, The Year of Mission.
Please remember to select and submit via the survey monkey your available dates by February 6.
The Year of Mission committee members have two simple hopes for our formation journey. Namely, that we would strengthen our community spirit and become more intentional about living the mission.
More simply stated, we hope that as people of Providence we will become companions on the journey, walking the talk!
Blessings,
Father Oliver
