Color me: PLEASED TO BE AN ARGO!
I am so excited to have the opportunity to join the University of Providence family at this special time in our history! After twenty-two years in the Montana University System, it is refreshing to me, personally and professionally, to move to UP. Building upon a firm vision of the future provided us by President Aretz, this is a perfect time to join the effort to launch the next phase of the university. To help foster that university-wide effort, the Office of the Provost will be embracing the following ideals, which I intend will characterize our interactions at the university, personally and professionally. These ideals arise out of my commitment to mobilize the Provost’s office to empower and encourage the faculty, staff, and administration of the university to provide academic, social, and cultural programs to serve Great Falls, the region, the PSJH system, and the larger healthcare community by offering programs that manifest the healing and educational ministries of Jesus Christ.
Core Values:
The Office of the Provost will work to fulfill this mission by embracing the following core values:
Respect
In a time when we see our country coarsening in terms of human interaction and mutual treatment, the Office of the Provost is interested in leading a counter-cultural charge to inculcate respect for the dignity of each person we encounter, bolstered by respect for the professional and personal paths that have brought us all together at this time and place.
Accountability
The Office of the Provost will require those we lead to accept and demonstrate accountability to our students, each other, our Board of Trustees, and PSJH for the propriety of our actions and the value of good stewardship in our use of precious resources as we carry out the educational responsibilities of a university.
Collaboration
The Office of the Provost will work alongside the faculty, staff, and administration of the University of Providence to carry out the mission of the institution. It will do so while calling on each partner with whom we interact to work together to cooperatively and collaboratively and the minimize personal agendas that compromise that mission.
Shared Values
The Office of the Provost recognizes that the University of Providence is a diverse community that represents a wide spectrum of spiritual, political, and cultural perspectives. Within that diversity, the University finds strength. Meeting the needs of a hungry, desperate, and chaotic world requires a wide variety of tools capable only when we value each other’s perspectives. That diversity, however, cannot obscure the primacy of the mission of the University to fulfill the ministry of Jesus Christ to serve the underserved.
The Office of the Provost will strive to be indefatigable in working to carry out this ministry by holding up the light of truth to the world as we live up to the challenge of the University’s motto:
In Lumine Tuo Videmus Lumen: In Your light, we see The Light.
