University of Providence Argo Alumni Weekend & Argo Athletic Hall of Fame 2024

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence is hosting Argo Weekend from Thursday, October 3 through Sunday, October 6 for alumni, friends, family, prospective and current students, and the Great Falls community. The weekend events will also include inductions into the Argo Athletic Hall of Fame.

The University of Providence will host its annual Argo Weekend, Harvest Family Festival, and Argo Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony the first weekend in October. The celebration weekend kicks off on Thursday, October 3 with a pre-game social for University of Providence students followed by an Argo Volleyball game versus Rocky Mountain College in the McLaughlin Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.

Throughout the weekend there will be several athletic events open to the public including Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Women’s Volleyball, and viewing options for our away Hockey games. The University will also host alumni events including an Alumni Softball game, Women’s and Men’s Alumni Basketball games, and an Alumni Wrestling Meet and Greet. Come cheer for our University of Providence Argo Athletic Teams!

“It is important that our Great Falls community and beyond recognizes the University of Providence as a local center for academic excellence, athleticism, and top-class sporting events”, states Father Oliver Doyle, President of the University of Providence. “Argo Weekend is an invitation to our neighbors, local and afar, and their families to come and celebrate with us not only the athletic achievements of our past and present, but UP’s many other contributions to the social and cultural life of the community.”

On Friday, October 4, the University will begin the day at noon with a blessing of pets for Saint Francis Day on the Providence Plaza followed by Women’s and Men’s Soccer games. Later that day we will host the Argo Weekend Kick-Off Party from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the McLaughlin Gymnasium. The kick-off party will include a silent auction, a campus update from the president, Father Oliver Doyle, a choir performance, the Women’s Basketball banner reveal and ring ceremony followed by the Men’s and Women’s basketball skills challenge featuring alumni and current players. All are welcome to attend this event.

On Saturday, October 5, we will begin the day with our School Showcase at 9:00 a.m. to include breakfast, alumni panels and showcase some of the programs the University has to offer. We will host the launch and signing of Sister Barbara Schambers newly published book, “Gifts of Water and Mountains” at 10:00 a.m. in the University Center. The afternoon will include an alumni softball game, Men’s and Women’s Soccer games, and another opportunity to watch our Argo Volleyball team as they take on Carroll College, along with the Harvest Family Festival.

“We want the Great Falls community to join in the fun, celebrating everything Argos, and give our residents an inside look at all we have to offer here”, adds Ross Remsen, Director of Alumni and Community Relations.

 The University would also like to extend an invitation to the Great Falls community to enjoy our second annual Harvest Family Festival on Saturday, October 5 from noon to 5:00 p.m. The Harvest Family Festival will include games, music, prizes, The Argonaut Pilsener beer garden, local food trucks, a kids’ costume contest at 1:00 p.m. and more. Admission is free.

The weekend will wrap up with the 2024 Argo Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Sunday, October 6. Congratulations to the following 2024 Hall of Fame inductees: Erin Legel, Alex Lowry, Anthony Varnell, Arunas Duda, Madison Wilhelm, the 2006 Volleyball team consisting of Jennifer Peterson, Marissa Stanchfield, Lesly Richter, Carlina Hapke, Kari Schiller, Dano Blair, Kami Motta, Jodi Miller, Cali Buck, Samantha Bull, Brittany Prater, Lindsay Toone, Kim Wright, Lora Weitzel, Brianne Goudey, Nicole Johnson, and Rachel Escorsia, Claudia Jackson, Cortney Thoren as athletes, and Arunas Duda, Mary Lester, and Pam Kavadas as coaches, and the 2014 Men’s Wrestling team consisting of Luke Schlosser, Michael Ruiz, Kyle Wilson, Ryan Martin, Chad Cebulski, Nicholas Schmidt, Shawn Lau, Brock Picard, Taylor Vaughn, Kamron Jackson, Jared Berlinger, and Chase Burns as athletes, and Caleb Schaeffer, Michael French, Nick Budeski, and Ty Vinson as coaches. We are looking forward to celebrating this exciting event with our inductees.
