University of Providence Expands Mental Health Support, Medical Care, & Basic Needs to Students

FOR RELEASE: September 9th, 2024

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence (UP) will offer students expanded access to mental health support and basic needs assistance through a partnership with TimelyCare, a provider of virtual health and well-being resources in higher education.

Through TimelyCare, students, staff, and faculty have access to the following services at no cost and without the barrier of traditional insurance:

  • On-demand and appointment-based medical care
  • On-demand mental health and emotional support
  • Appointment-based mental health counseling
  • Health coaching
  • Basic Needs assistance
  • Student Success Coaching
  • Care navigation
  • Peer support community
  • Digital self-care content

“Issues related to student wellbeing, including mental illness and suicide, continue to be among the most critical concerns facing higher education institutions across the country. Securing funds to support student success and retention, including student well-being services, has been among my highest priorities since arriving at UP,” said Dr. Joel Bluml, Vice President for Student Engagement and Athletics at the University of Providence.

Thanks to a generous Montana Healthcare Foundation Grant, Nikki Lewis-Clark joined the University last spring, serving as UP’s Campus Advocate and Counselor.

“As we explored providing additional resources designed to support well-being and holistic health, an objective identified in UP’s strategic plan, it was important to find sustainable solutions that meet the needs of UP’s distance learners as well as campus students,” Bluml said.

“The goal is to create a healthier campus through a connected system of care. As an added benefit, Nikki’s professional licensure will allow Nikki and TimelyCare to legally work together as if their offices were located down the hall from one another,” Bluml said.
