University of Providence Expands Military Support in New Paralegal Program Partnership

FOR RELEASE: September 18th, 2024

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence (UP) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School, expanding the University’s reach to further support military members.

This partnership allows paralegals to transfer course credits from the Paralegal Apprentice Course (PAC) into either UP’s Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degrees in Legal and Paralegal Studies and are accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA).

“It is important that UP recognizes the value of military training in the various fields and for military personnel to receive college credit for that training. College education is important for advancement in the armed services and important for an individual when they separate to have a fulfilling second career,” said Deb Kottel, Professor of Legal and Paralegal Studies at UP.

As a Yellow Ribbon School, UP was one of the first in the nation to enter into a partnership with the U.S. Army to award academic credit from an ABA approved program for Army trained paralegals, marking the University’s commitment to providing education resources to enlisted men and women.

“We are proud to be one of two schools in the nation to be in a partnership with the U.S. Airforce to award academic credit for Air Force trained paralegals. Our online programs and campus-based programs work with military enlisted and veterans to maximize credit transfer and to award credit for military training for degree completion,” Kottel said.

The University of Providence (UP) is a private, Roman Catholic Liberal Arts University founded in 1932 by the Sisters of Providence. The University of Providence honors the Sisters’ vision today by providing a mission-driven education to those that need it the most.
