University of Providence Introduces New Vice President of Student Engagement & Athletics

FOR RELEASE: July 27, 2022

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence is excited to announce a new Vice President of Student Engagement and Athletics.

Dr. Joel Bluml brings a wealth of knowledge in higher education serving in past director positions in academic and student affairs, while also bringing a diverse background in the sports and wellness arena.

“I am extremely excited to join the University of Providence at what appears to be a pivotable time in the institution’s history. I look forward to supporting and advancing the University’s mission, to provide students with the opportunity to obtain a liberal arts education for living and making a living, by working to cultivate inclusive learning, living, and working communities, facilitating the success of all people, and supporting all individuals.” – Dr. Bluml

Dr. Bluml started working remotely on July 15th and will be on campus on August 15th to welcome students as they begin their fall semester.

“We are richly blessed to have the opportunity to welcome Dr. Joel Bluml to our campus community. The depth and breadth of his experience in both Student Affairs and Athletics means that our Division of Student Engagement will be uniquely poised to collaborate with Academic Affairs for the growth and development of our students. In his capable hands, Student Engagement will emerge as an essential partner in the effort to continue the good work the Sisters of Providence began nearly 90 years ago.”- Matt Redinger, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

UP welcomes Dr. Bluml as he joins the university community.

“I will strive to provide opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to reflect upon their own perspectives while examining the perspectives of others, resulting in a culture of empathy and respect for all which is consistent with the University of Providence’s Catholic identity.”  – Dr. Bluml
