University of Providence Names New Dean for School of Liberal Arts and Sciences

GREAT FALLS, MONTANA – The University of Providence will be starting the upcoming fall semester with a new dean for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Gregory Johnson has been selected to step into the role, bringing with him an impressive resume showcasing his academic leadership skills that will greatly benefit UP.

“The Division of Academic Affairs is thrilled to welcome Greg to the university community! His proven experience as an academic leader and his deep background in study abroad will prove transformative for the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This is a very exciting time to be at the University of Providence, and I am excited about our future with Greg on the Academics leadership team. Together, he, the faculty in Arts and Sciences, and I will be able to demonstrate our commitment to the ideals, charism, and mission of the Sisters of Providence,” — Matt Redinger, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Dr. Johnson will begin working remotely as the SLAS Dean on July 29, and plans to be on campus by August 15. He will be making the move from Tacoma, Washington to Great Falls with his wife, Kaisa, and four of their children.

“I’m so delighted and humbled to be given this opportunity. I look forward to contributing further to the legacy and work of the Sisters of Providence in the educational ministry of the university,” — Dr. Johnson.
