24-Hour Hotlines

988 National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

988 is the new three-digit dialing code that will route callers to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), and is active across the United States.

When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.

The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

Provides 24/7, free, and confidential support for individuals in distress.  When you call, you are connected to a skilled, trained counselor at a crisis center in your area and they are also able to provide emergency response when appropriate.

The Trevor Lifeline

Provides 24/7 support from thetrevorproject.org trained counselors to LGBTQ+ youth (ages 13-24) in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk.  The TrevorChat and TrevorText are also confidential and secure resources.

Veterans Crisis Line

Provides 24/7, free, and confidential support for veterans their families and their friends.
